Blade as far as I can tell is a good quality-more practical than fancy. The sheath fits well. not the best quality but it does the job. the hsndgusrd is pretty plain,and the only thing that bothered me is the pommel feels like plastic although it is quite well attached.

I was very impressed by the quality of this katana when I pulled it out of the box. The blade was well made and came with a certificate of authenticity that detailed the basic qualities of the sword as a whole. I wouldn't say it was razor sharp but it was sharp enough to do the basic cut tests, in which it held as expected for it's particular price. The artwork on the handle is well crafted and gives it it's own unique look which I personally like. I would say it's better than average for its price, so if you want a better sword you'll need to pay more.

This is a pretty nice sword however for the money there are better swords. When i received mine i saw on the blade that it appeared to have 2 hamons... yeah one was much more prominent than the other and its hardly noticeable and blade also looks scratchy. the tsuka was very nice and all the fittings were nice. All in all this is a good buy, you will be satisfied

I usualy love cold steel knives. This katana arrived a bit sub standard. There are rust spots about 2 inches long on the face of the blade. Also on the spine at about the center point on the blade there is a 3 inch rust spot. Most of the length of the blade was dull except for the tip. It appears as if the katana had been stored for a very long time or handled much before it was sold to me. I will however keep it and attempt to buff out the rust then sharpen.

There is no wobble at all in the sword. The blade is beautiful and for entertainment I went outside and pruned a few trees. The blade worked as well or better than a machete even though it's a thicker blade. If the blade did not bend and it is still very sharp. I was very impressed as I swung very hard.

This is an awesome weapon. Yes, weapon. This is not a toy or a show piece. This Katana came very sharp and battle ready. A few passes in my ceramic sharpener and it is razor sharp. These are great practice swords. I've been using them for full contact sparring for months now. The only thing I've noticed is the hand guards tend to loosen relatively easily during hard strikes. Not really an issue. After using traditional wooden bokken for years, I'm never going back. I don't know why they're so expensive all of a sudden.

One of the strongest blades I won that isn't truly Damascus steel, but is very close to the strength of such. This blade has a good weight to it, which makes it very easy to cut through many things given it has a sharp edge, which mine does. I just wanted the wakizashi for a photography piece I was working on. I didn't know that this came as two swords that fit together. I was pleasantly surprised! The edge was a little sharper than another prop sword I had, so be aware of that if you have kids. The sword is oilde not too light not too thick, its edge is not as sharp as it could be but is still battle ready, I'd suggest getting a wet stone to sharpen. The steel is a modern way of recreating Damascus steel so it is Damascus steel in a way. The sword is pretty well balanced and its only flaw is the handle isn't as pretty but with looking at it more thoroughly its very sturdy. No katana is meant for cutting tree limbs as no sword should be used as such, the metal is long so it will bend if hit against something its not meant for. Although bamboo is tougher its also hollow. Don't forget to oil it every once in a while as it is a metal that can rust. Treat ur sword with respect and proper use and it will last. It is in fact a great sword and I'm still loving it.

I was looking for a solid, practical sword for self defense purposes. After scouring Amazon, this is where I decided to take my chances. I am VERY pleased! This sword is definitely well made. I have no doubt it will hold up if and when I need to fully utilize it's potential. Solidly sharp edge out of the box. A little heavier than I had expected, but this is my first katana. Purchased this Katana for my son. I am not terribly familiar with Japanese swords but am very happy with my purchase. The sword arrived significantly before the expected delivery date and was in perfect condition. Unpacked, the sword is contained in a decorative cloth bag with a gold cord with tassels. The wooden sheath is high gloss black with some decorative accents and very nice in appearance and quality. The Katana itself to me seems to be very well made with a sharp edge. Taking off the protective plastic sleeve and removing the factory oil protectant reveals a beautiful dark reddish/brown hue. I am extremely pleased with the Katana and sure my son will be thrilled. 100% satisfied.

This Cold Steel Warrior Katana is better than expected. I have had the sword for two weeks now.The sword arrived with some dirt on it that wiped off easily. I agree with other reviewers that this katana is blade heavy making quick recovery during forms more than a bit difficult. The blade is sharp enough to catch on a thumb nail when scraping over the nail to check sharpness but not shaving sharp. The katana cuts completely through water bottles better than many of the videos depict on You Tube.

I am very pleased with this Musashi sword. It arrived quite sharp and with no issues such as warped blades. It included a cotton sword bag for storage and a certificate of authenticity. My sword had a slight rattle in the hilt. I was concerned that the hilt was loose, but, after removing the pegs, I was completely unable to budge the hilt. Turned out that the "rattle" was actually the Menuki, the little brass good luck charm that Samurai had placed under the wrappings. This is probably one of the best swords you can get in this price range.

For the price I don't think you can get a better Samurai sword. Normally I collect fantasy swords or medieval time swords but I do have a few katana's and this one is great. While its not my best one for the price, its of great quality. I was very impressed by the quality of this katana when I pulled it out of the box. The blade was well made and came with a certificate of authenticity that detailed the basic qualities of the sword as a whole. I wouldn't say it was razor sharp but it was sharp enough to do the basic cut tests, in which it held as expected for it's particular price. The artwork on the handle is well crafted and gives it it's own unique look which I personally like. I would say it's better than average for its price, so if you want a better sword you'll need to pay more.

Another masterpiece from Shinwa, Well made with craftsmanship that is truly impressive. Solid and very durable with a razor sharp edge that holds up. Damascus living up to its reputation. The cost to value ratio is way off on this "ninja to" and is worth a great deal more. The memories from "Enter The Ninja" back in the 80s made my buying mind up.

I got it for the symbolism of the green and fish, and the red blade details -- Archangel St Raphael, the Source of Divine Healing (Green and fish) and Archangel St Euriel, the Source of Divine Wisdom (Red). The only drawback to the sword is it's not very sharp.I did buy a knife sharpener and used it for this blade and when done I wiped the blade down cut through the rag with scary ease.So sharpening the blade is the only thing I recommend.

I have a black belt in kenjutsu (Kuki Shinden-Ryu Happo Bikenjutsu) and this is one of my favorite swords. Even though it was not manufactured in a traditional way, it is proof that modern manufacturing techniques can mass produce swords that any ancient samurai would have envied. The first thing I did when i got it was a paper test, after i wiped off all the oil/wax it was coated in for storage/shipping. it cut well, then reoiled it. There was a few scuffs on the blade up near the point but they didn't really concern me, I took off the handle to see the full tang, and getting the bamboo pegs out was sort of a difficult task for the first time, they were in there tight, and getting the handle away from the tsuba was very hard because of how tight it is, (same goes for putting it back on). all in all, a very well made sword, beautifully decorated tsuba, i looked at a lot of different functional swords 200 dollars and less before I decided on this one, and I'm happy I did. even with the scuffs, I still look forward to getting a display stand and displaying this thing. There is a tiny dent on the front tsuba guard, (the piece between the tsuba and the blade that can't even be removed (at least I couldn't)) however it's so small it's hardly noticable unless the light hits it just right, so it doesn't bother me.

Mine got damaged in shipping because the box it was shipped in was too small, so the hilt end is "rubbed" and the blade is very difficult to get out of the scabbard. Beautiful. Sharp. Lethal. Functional. I have two other katanas and one ko-katana but if I want to cut something in half this is the go to sword. When i received mine i saw on the blade that it appeared to have 2 hamons... yeah one was much more prominent than the other and its hardly noticeable and blade also looks scratchy. the tsuka was very nice and all the fittings were nice. Purchased this Katana for my son. I am not terribly familiar with Japanese swords but am very happy with my purchase. The sword arrived significantly before the expected delivery date and was in perfect condition. Unpacked, the sword is contained in a decorative cloth bag with a gold cord with tassels. The wooden sheath is high gloss black with some decorative accents and very nice in appearance and quality. The Katana itself to me seems to be very well made with a sharp edge. Taking off the protective plastic sleeve and removing the factory oil protectant reveals a beautiful dark reddish/brown hue. I am extremely pleased with the Katana and sure my son will be thrilled. 100% satisfied.

I received my sword today. I am very pleased with the quality... the only "issue" is that I received the Ronin version instead of the Dragon one I ordered but I must say, I am not even slightly disappointed (as a matter of fact.. in hindsight I think it might be better as the Dragon theme has become a bit cliche'). I will not be playing "warrior" with it so the shortcomings in hacking water bottles and buses do not apply.

I've bought a lot of swords from various sources and have always found myself left wanting. Finally that's not the case. I'm only giving this thing five stars because that's all there is. It should actually have seven. If you're thinking of a good sword, real sword, but don't have the funds of Bill Gates this is the one. BUY IT!

Beautiful sword! Overall, I was very happy with it when it came in the mail today. It's sharp, solid, and an overall good quality sword. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the blade doesn't line up with the handle, making for poor cuts. If that were fixed, it would be an awesome battle ready sword.

This Cold Steel Warrior Katana is better than expected. I have had the sword for two weeks now.The sword arrived with some dirt on it that wiped off easily. I agree with other reviewers that this katana is blade heavy making quick recovery during forms more than a bit difficult. The blade is sharp enough to catch on a thumb nail when scraping over the nail to check sharpness but not shaving sharp. The katana cuts completely through water bottles better than many of the videos depict on You Tube.

For anyone looking for an authentic cutting sword, this is a great choice. This is the more refined version of the Hanwei Practical Katana Sword. I did some research and this rated well in many sword enthsiast forums. It comes with a tag from Hanwei that provides a serial number to document that this is a Hanwei sword. The workmanship is so beautiful for a sword of this price that I have not had the heart to cut with it yet. I may just buy another one and keep one for decoration and dedicate the other for cutting practice.

I purchased this along with several other swords. Bottomline: you can really hurt someone or yourself with this weapon. However, if you plan on doing some sword battle with a couple of Samurai...you will definitely need either a better sword, or a 30 yard head start. But do not believe reviews that criticize this sword and it's sharpness or capabilities to do harm. It's sharp enough and will give even a novice an opportunity to train with something decent. If you want more "authenticity", you're going to have to reach into your wallet and pay a heck of a lot more.
